HCG injection after positive pregnancy
My wife has undergone IVF transfer on 29th Oct, and she got a positive pregnancy result. Even after successful transfer, the hospital today insisted on taking HCG injection in units of 2500IU(half of pack) without any test. She is also taking lomocare 40mg (half) and Miprogen-forte 100mg injection. She is feeling very tired after additional HCG and I am unable to understand why HCG supplement is needed at this stage as she tested positive 14th November and the result was around 10k beta hcg, and on 16th 23k. Kindly help with this confusion why additional HCG is suggested after a positive pregnancy. The hospital is not giving any explanation as they say it's just a normal procedure for them.

In IVF Pregnancy the care is little different from the care of a natural conception. The patient needs additional supplements of Progesterone because this hormone sustains the pregnancy and prevents early abortion. She is getting Miprogen Forte for the same reason. HCG has been given because the Corpus Luteum which is a part of natural conception and produces progesterone in a natural conception is not there in an IVF Pregnancy. Please check up, is she getting 40 mg Lomocare or the dose is different.
