Hair thinning and pimples at jaw
All my hormonal reports are normal but i am having severe hair fall since last six months. Both side of the scalp is now visible. Dr prescribed prolox 5% but i am scared to use minidoxil. Is it safe. I have heard that it causes lot of hair fall initially.

Don’t be afraid of Minoxidil, trust your doctor and take the drug. Consult him/her again for any queries related to Minoxidil. Your concern is right, but the fear is not. You will start seeing the results after 6-8 weeks. Consistency is the key while using Minoxidil.

• Your history suggests chronic hair fall, likely telogen effluvium with possible early female pattern hair loss • Minoxidil (Prolox 5%) is a safe and well-studied treatment for this condition • The initial hair fall you’ve heard about is temporary shedding, which happens because weak hairs fall out to allow stronger regrowth—this is actually a sign the medicine is working, not worsening Next Steps • You can start minoxidil as prescribed—use it regularly and consistently • Give it at least 3–4 months to assess visible improvement • If you are still unsure or anxious, I recommend a consultation with me on Practo so I can evaluate your scalp pattern and guide you step-by-step and also suggest alternatives of minoxidil Helpful Tips / Words of Caution • Initial shedding can occur in the first few weeks—do not stop because of this • Results take time; consistency is key • Apply only on scalp (not hair length) • Avoid stopping suddenly once started, as it can reverse progress • Manage stress, nutrition, and sleep—they play a major role in hair fall Kindly consult me via Practo for detailed evaluation and treatment
