A 62-year-old male with:
• General weakness
• Body ache
• Multiple joint pains
• Back pain
At this age, we should not assume simple fatigue.
Common causes include:
• Vitamin D deficiency
• Vitamin B12 deficiency
• Anemia
• Thyroid disorder
• Diabetes-related weakness
• Polymyalgia rheumatica (inflammatory condition >50 yrs)
• Early osteoarthritis
• Chronic infection
If weakness is new and persistent, it needs evaluation — not just painkillers.
Important questions:
• Since when?
• Any fever?
• Weight loss?
• Morning stiffness?
• Loss of appetite?
At 62, we must rule out medical causes before labeling it “age-related.”
Next Steps
I would recommend basic blood work:
✔ CBC (anemia)
✔ ESR / CRP (inflammation)
✔ Vitamin D
✔ Vitamin B12
✔ Thyroid profile
✔ Fasting blood sugar
✔ Kidney function
If severe back pain:
✔ X-ray spine (if persistent)
For now:
✔ Adequate hydration
✔ Light stretching
✔ Paracetamol for pain (if no liver issue)
✔ Proper sleep
Avoid self-starting steroids or heavy painkillers without evaluation.
If there is:
• Sudden severe weakness
• Difficulty walking
• Fever
• Weight loss
• Night pain
→ Urgent medical review required.
Health Tips
✔ Ensure protein intake
✔ Morning sunlight exposure
✔ Gentle walking
✔ Proper mattress support
✔ Avoid prolonged bed rest
At this age, weakness is often treatable once cause is identified.
If you can share:
• Duration of symptoms
• Existing diseases (BP, diabetes?)
• Current medications
I can narrow it more precisely. Booking an online consultation will help evaluate systematically and prevent missing an important underlying cause.
Hi. There can be several reasons. Judging from your description and given age there is high possibility of the following
Nutritional deficiency / ? Age-related fatigue
Myalgia with mechanical backache
We need to Rule out anemia, Vitamin D/B12 deficiency
I suggest some tests to be done. In the meantime i would advise
T. Multivitamins (Supradyn)
T. PCM 500 for pain
T. Calcium with vit D3
Adequate rest
Drink plenty of water
Have Balanced diet rich in green leafy vegetables, pulses, milk
Sunlight exposure 20–30 mins daily
Follow up with investigation reports
