Many people have tongue thrusting habit and they are not even aware of it. The plus point in your case is that at least you are already aware of your habit.the braces will work but the tongue needs to be trained to be in proper ideal position and that has to be done by you once you are trained for it.also the breathing pattern also needs to be checked.also you have to be made aware of the pronunciation of certain letters.
Tongue thrusting habit may be due to retained habit from suckling Stage or habitual or due to deviated nasal septum..... if it is a retained habit or habitual... for kids we give tongue crib which will poke the tongue and eventually avoid the habit.... if u have DNS.... get it corrected.......as u are 21 you can consciously avoid this habit..... orthodontic alignment of teeth is the perfect solution for your malallignment.... if not corrected, the spacing is going to increase and eventually lead to mobility of your teeth due to bone loss
Hi orthodontic treatment will help you in closing the gaps between the teeth and as for tongue thrusting habit a tongue crib appliance can help in breaking the habit. Visit a dentist near you for proper treatment
