Fungal infection  in thighs
I have developed fungal infection in my inner thighs (*I think it is ringworm infection). I didnt know how it develop even though I am careful about my skin. It all started when I stayed in hostel. I used steroid creams for a week and It also goes away but it leaves black patch on that area. How I treat them? Can I use glycolic acid cream? And any tablets that you dermatologist suggest to prevent fungal infection coming back? Can I use Retinol there?

The description suggests tinea cruris, a dermatophyte infection commonly seen in occluded, humid areas like the inner thighs—especially in communal settings like hostels. Steroid-containing creams may temporarily suppress symptoms but worsen pigmentation and recurrence due to tinea incognito.
Next Steps
For effective, relapse-free treatment, an online consultation with a dermatologist is essential. This allows for a tailored antifungal regimen (oral + topical) and safe options to manage post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) like glycolic acid creams—if used correctly.
Health Tips
Avoid using retinol or glycolic acid without supervision in sensitive intertriginous zones. Maintain strict hygiene, avoid shared linen, and opt for loose, breathable clothing. Avoid OTC steroid-antifungal combos.
