My son is suffering with fever and cold from last 5 days. Fever is ranging between 102-103. After paracetamol it reduces for 4-5 hours again it comes. I went for follow up & doctor suggested for blood test and anti flu medicine. My child is very reluctant to the medicine. He is active and eating well. But now it is 5 days so what should I do ? 5 to 7 days is average duration of these viral fevers. If your son is active, no further treatment needed. Watch for any fast breathing or exaggerated chest movements, if they develop visit your pediatrician immediately.
Child most likely having viral fever, commonly lasts 5–7 days.
Since he is active and eating well, that is reassuring. But fever touching 102–103°F for 5 days needs evaluation to rule out bacterial infection.
