Hi All,
I feel lethargic for about 45–60 minutes after waking up in the morning. I get good sleep for around 7 hours and maintain a balanced diet. I also exercise 4–5 times a week and consume healthy foods, including milk products.
Despite this, I still feel low on energy in the morning. I'm not sure if it is related to digestion, because after I wake up and use the washroom, I start feeling lazy and lethargic.
Can anyone please suggest what could be the reason for this health issue?
Thanks in advance.

1.Delayed Sleep Inertia
The brain may take 30–90 minutes to fully "boot up" in some people—this is called sleep inertia.
It's more noticeable if:
You wake up from deep sleep (slow wave sleep)
You don’t get bright light exposure soon after waking
You use snooze alarms or have irregular wake-up times
Suggestion Get sunlight within 30 minutes of waking, avoid snoozing, and try a consistent wake-up time—even on weekends
2.Nutrient Imbalance or Deficiency
Even with a good diet, there might be low levels of:
Vitamin DVitamin B12
Iron or Ferritin
Magnesium
Thyroid hormone (TSH/T3/T4)
> Suggestion: A basic blood panel can help. Especially check CBC, TSH, Vitamin D, B12, and fasting glucose/HbA1c.
3.If you feel worse after using the washroom, mild gut dysbiosis or subclinical constipation could be draining energy.
Even if bowel movements are regular, sluggish gut motility or excessive gas might trigger morning fatigue.
> Suggestion: Try probiotics (like Lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium), increase warm water intake in the morning, or include soaked raisins and figs at night to ease bowel flow.

Many Indians, particularly women in your age group, are commonly found to be deficient in essential vitamins and minerals. In most cases, this deficiency is a primary cause of lethargy and low energy levels.
Including a daily multivitamin, calcium supplement, and—if anemic—iron supplements in the diet can help address these deficiencies and your issue.
