Facial assymetry
I feel my smile is assymetrical. I had a bad habit on stressing one side while smiling during my childhood . Can this be corrected by physiotherapists?

Suggestive of facial muscles imbalance and habituation assymetry. This condition is benign and very common. Prognosis is excellent with 6-12 week of therapy focusing on muscle retraining and habit correction. Physiotherapy for facial muscles will be beneficial for you to regain symmetry, such as facial muscles retraining, postural correction, jaw relaxation techniques, isolated activation of weaker side, symmetry training and mirror based facial exercises.
Next Steps
Visit a physiotherapist or connect with us over telehealth
Health Tips
Practice mirror controlled smiling at home, slow smile practicing, use weaker side more often

Yes, mild facial asymmetry can be improved with physiotherapy, especially if it is due to long-term muscle habit or imbalance. Facial muscle exercises, neuromuscular retraining, posture correction, and relaxation techniques can help improve symmetry over time. Results depend on severity and consistency of exercises.
