Hello,
Other than implant you can opt for a bridge however implant does offer you long term solution. Stil if you are confused please take a second opinion. Your dentist is right without the root your milk tooth will fall soon, and if not planned properly you will start to loose the space.

What v can do is v will not extract the decidious canine as that canine will act as space maintainer for permanent canine. Implant is the best option otherwise can go fr bridge also moreover it all depends on the case . In cases premolar can be made canine .without seeing the case clinically its difficult to predict about the case
If your dentist has advised this then he has done so after careful evaluation of the space. If the milk tooth has no root you may end up losing it eventually anyway. Therefore it may be better to remitting and think of the best way to close that gap. Implant is a good option.
