This can occur due to various reasons including poor oral hygiene, traumatic bite (the way upper and lower teeth contact)
In your case, traumatic bite is the major cause of this spacing.

This has occurred because of the yellow layer( calculus) getting formed on teeth. When that debris starts sitting in gums,gums get irritated and receed downward which is why that gap is seen
