Hello dear,
Mental illnesses can be a result of multiple factors including biological, emotional, social and personal. In order to treat these illnesses, its important to identify the underlying cause and then treat accordingly using medicine and Psychotherapy. Usually it takes a week or two before the treatment results in improvement.
Consult a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist for support. The services are free in govt medical college hospitals if you can't afford outside. Take your children also for counselling they will understand the situation better. Good luck.
