Compression of the thecal sac is not something to be worried about. The degenerative changes would be the cause of the back pain. Depending on the scan appearance the degree of degenerative change can be commented upon.
Key is to take adequate painkillers, take rest, ise hot fomentation/hot water bottle and continue to stay mobile and active. The pain will resolve is due course of time. Once the pain is better a directed course of physiotherapy for improving your core strength will be useful. Also try yoga. Keep monitoring your symptoms and if there is any change or numbness or weakness developing then see a Spinal Surgeon for assessment.
