Hello After carefully going through the information provided by you, I have a few questions that need answering before we can decide on the course of treatment. Currently, your father is on statin medication to lower cholesterol levels. Statins also help prevent stroke and heart attacks. 1) What was the indication that your father needed to seek medical counsel initially? 2) Is there any family history of heart conditions? 3) The latest report showing cholesterol levels and a few other reports.
Next Steps
Please book a consult, and we will discuss the concerns at length and then figure out which is the best course of treatment from here on.
Health Tips
Yes, statins can be taken long-term, but I don't see any indication for that in the information you provided, so before switching/altering the course of treatment, let's first dig in depth and then advice you. Hope this helps.
