Weight loss, stress, reduced appetite and comorbid anxiety can be all explained by depression. But sometimes for anxiety some antidepressants are given that also lead to reduced weight. But definitely blood tests have to be done to rule out any physical illness by priority. After that a better drug like maybe mirtazapine can be preferred to work on weight loss, stress and anxiety all together. A detailed evaluation is needed. I provide online consultation and therapy support you can contact me directly on seven eight seven seven six three nine six eight two or directly through practo instant for detailed evaluation and individualised management plan.

Hi, extreme stress and anxiety meds can reduce appetite and cause weight loss. It's good you're noticing it early. Share this with your treating doctor for a quick review and possible dose tweak or checks. Feel free to consult for further guidance.

First try to change your life style. The primary thing which helps in stress is exercise.(walking and/or yoga). No alcohol or other substances. Are you on short term anxiety pills? Not good. You need proper treatment to get you out of the situation.Once proper medicines have properly stabilised your mind you need to go for counselling which will prevent you from further relapses in your life.

Significant weight loss and poor appetite over several months should not be dismissed as stress alone, even if you are on anxiety medication. Some anxiety medications can reduce appetite, but it is equally important to rule out underlying conditions like thyroid overactivity, which can cause both anxiety symptoms and weight loss. A basic blood workup including thyroid profile and CBC would be a good starting point to find the cause.
Next Steps
Get a thyroid profile and CBC done as a first step. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation and to review your current medications.

Significant weight loss and reduced appetite over the past few months should not be attributed to stress alone, even though anxiety can certainly contribute to these symptoms. A medical evaluation is important to rule out underlying physical causes. Share Your age, height, and current weight Approximate amount of weight lost and over what duration Any fever, night sweats, chronic cough, loose stools, vomiting, or abdominal pain The name and dose of the anxiety medication you are taking Any recent blood tests done?
Next Steps
Baseline investigations including CBC, ESR/CRP, thyroid profile (TSH), blood sugar, liver and kidney function tests, and further evaluation based on symptoms.
Health Tips
Continue your prescribed anxiety medication unless advised otherwise by your treating doctor. If the weight loss is substantial or progressive,Do Consult for further evaluation
