Bleeding gums while teeth cleaning
My gums were bleeding so much while the dentist cleaning my teeth (1 day ago). It seemed more than normal. The whole cleaning process was very painful too. Today I noticed a gap (a big hole) between my teeths. I am worried. Should I change my dentist? There was not a whole before cleaning. I have 2 more sessions of cleaning left. I am worried about my teeths.

Hi Main cause of bleeding gums in a healthy individual would be deposits present on teeth as well as below your gums. The treatment of choice in these cases are Scaling to remove the deposits both below and above the gums. When there are huge deposits formed on teeth, they start to move the gums lower than where they are supposed to be and this happens gradually. Because of this gradual shift, you would have not noticed that the gums are at a lower position than where they are supposed to be. Since scaling has removed major part of the calculus, you are seeing the gap between your teeth. The gums will revert back provided the treatment is completed and you maintain proper oral hygiene practices. As far as changing the dentist is concerned, the Dentist has done what exactly had to be done, and you can continue with your dentist.
Next Steps
Follow proper brushing technique, use floss and other interdental aids as prescribed by your dentist.
Health Tips
Maintain good oral hygiene.

It was just the calculus which was stuck between the teeth so you can see the gap. If the calculus isn't removed it causes gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis. Cleaning machine doesn't cause any tooth cutting so the hole or gap was already there which became visible on removal of dirty calculus. Bleeding is a sign of unhealthy gums. More the bleeding.. More unhealthy are the gums.
Next Steps
Visit MD physician if bleeding does not stop after sometime of cleaning is done.
Health Tips
No need to change dentist. Cleaning should be done every 6 months by every individual.
