My daughter is 1 month old. Her umbilical cord fell off after 1 week she was born. There is this black thing in her navel. Is this normal?
We take her to doctor for vaccination this weekend. Should we take her early for the navel?

Hello
After the umbilical cord falls off, there might be a small scab left in that area called granulation tissue, this heals in its own.
It’s normal to see a small amount of dried blood or slight yellowish discharge as it heals.
Keep the area clean and dry, allow exposure to air, keep diaper below the area
If the inner part turns bright pink or red visit the nearest Pediatrician-requires salt therapy
Next Steps
Continue breast feeding
Pat dry the area
Don’t apply anything over the area

Next Steps
Ensure it is kept clean and dry. If any discharge consult
