Bipolar disorder tends to be an episodic illness, where in one can have above set of symptoms alternating with each other or sometimes both together. Duration of treatment depends on number of such episodes and the choice of treatment is usually a mood stabiliser. which will prevent further episodes from occurring. Which mood stabiliser to be started can be decided after a detailed assessment, investigations and review of history.

It would be helpful if you mention the total duration of illness and the duration of current episode, co-morbidities and compliance to medications. That matters when one is expecting a quick recovery. Also the dosage of medications needs to be seen.
