My son has sensory processing disorder (autism).
His current diet is as below:
Breakfast : Milk with GRD protein powder, 1 scrambled egg.
Lunch: Dal Rice with mixed vegetables
Evening Snack: Milk bowl with lots of Marie Gold biscuits
Dinner: Dal Rice with mixed vegetables.
Before sleeping: 1 glass turmeric milk.
He cant eat chapati at all and also swallows food and doesnt chew it properly due to his autism issue.
He has regular constipation issues which we resolve using ayurvel powder, Zandu Pancharisht or Softvel powder. Recently his stomach seems swollen/bloated.
Please advise on healthy diet plan considering above diet and also how to keep his bowel movement healthy and reduce bloating and constipation.

Healthy morning,
Eating regular meals containing fiber and having six to eight drinks a days . Will often help. High fibre foods including whole grains breakfast cereal, whole meals and fruits and vegetables ,beans, pulses can also help to increase fiber intake.
Any gastrointestinal symptoms should be managed gluten and casein - free diet.
1. Ensure a consistent routine around activity and mealtime this can be reassuring and help to reduce anxiety around mealtimes
2. Increase visibility of different foods. Being more aware of a foods means it becomes more familiar
3. Be patient. Taking small steps is important and can take time . If you are supporting someone who are autism , offering lots of support and praise along the way helps
A well-balanced diet that includes a variety of foods can help ensure that individuals receive all the necessary nutrients for overall health:
• Fruits and Vegetables: Rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Aim for a colorful variety.
• Whole Grains: Such as brown rice, quinoa, and whole wheat bread, which provide essential nutrients and fiber.
• Protein: Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, beans, nuts, and seeds.
• Healthy Fats: Sources include avocados, olive oil, and fatty fish like salmon.
2. GLUTEN FREE DIET:
Show good evidence.
3. Avoiding Artificial Additives
Artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives may exacerbate symptoms in some individuals. Opt for natural, whole foods and avoid processed items with these additives.
4. Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fatty fish (e.g., salmon, mackerel), flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts, are essential for brain health and may help with cognitive function and behavior.
5. Probiotics and Gut Health
There is growing evidence that gut health impacts brain function and behavior. Probiotics can support a healthy gut microbiome:
• Probiotic Foods: Yogurt with live cultures, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and other fermented foods.
• Prebiotic Foods: Foods that feed beneficial gut bacteria, such as garlic, onions, leeks, asparagus, and bananas.
6. Sensory-Friendly Foods
For individuals with sensory processing issues, the texture, taste, and smell of food can be critical:
• Texture: Offer a variety of textures, but be mindful of preferences (e.g., some might prefer crunchy over soft foods).
• Taste: Bland foods might be more acceptable to those sensitive to strong flavors.
• Smell: Avoid overly aromatic foods if they trigger adverse reactions.
7. Regular Meal Times and Hydration
Consistency in meal times and adequate hydration can help regulate mood and energy levels:
• Regular Meals: Structured meal and snack times can provide a sense of routine and stability.
• Hydration: Encourage drinking water throughout the day. Limit sugary drinks and caffeine.
Next Steps
For the proper guidance you can consult dietician directly.
