Attention and Emotional Difficulties
I have been experiencing difficulties with concentration and staying focused for several years. I get distracted easily, struggle to start and complete mentally demanding tasks, and often procrastinate even when I know something is important. I also experience frequent restlessness and have difficulty sitting still for long periods. During conversations, I often interrupt people or start speaking before they have finished. My family and friends have repeatedly pointed out that I sometimes talk instead of properly listening to what they are saying. I talk impulsively. These difficulties are affecting my studies, daily routine, and relationships. I also sometimes start crying unexpectedly without clearly understanding the reason. I was good in my studies earlier but when i came in 7th grade (2017) 13yrs old marks started to drop a lil and by 9th grade i became a complete mess. And I have not grown in my life from that point i am 22 and i don't have any direction in my life.

It sounds like you’ve been struggling with attention, impulsivity, procrastination, and emotional regulation for a long time, and this has understandably affected your studies, relationships, and confidence. These concerns can have several possible causes, including ADHD-related difficulties, anxiety, stress, or other emotional factors. A proper psychological/psychiatric assessment would help clarify what is going on. Meanwhile, structured routines, breaking tasks into smaller steps, and practicing active listening can be helpful starting points.

It is completely understandable to feel overwhelmed and directionless when you have been struggling for years with focus, impulsivity, and unexpected emotional surges, especially when these challenges start affecting your relationships and self-esteem. Struggling to complete tasks or feeling restless does not mean you are lazy or lacking potential; it simply means your brain processes focus and emotions differently, and carrying that burden silently for a long time can naturally lead to exhaustion and tears. Counseling can help you gently break down these patterns without judgment, giving you a supportive space to understand how your mind works and develop practical strategies to manage daily routines, improve focus, and build healthier communication in your relationships. Through this process, you can regain clarity, build self-compassion, and gradually map out a clear direction forward at your own pace.

Difficulty with focus, procrastination, restlessness and impulsivity over several years can have different underlying factors, so it’s better not to self-diagnose. A proper psychological assessment can help understand what’s actually contributing to these difficulties.
Next Steps
You can book a session with me for a psychological evaluation. We can look at your attention, emotional patterns, academic difficulties and daily functioning and decide what support would be appropriate.

This pattern of long-standing focus, impulsivity and emotional difficulties is worth having formally evaluated by a mental health professional. Its treatable and support can help even after years of struggling with it alone
