What is Acceptance?
Acceptance, in terms of mental health, is when you simple allow your emotions and thoughts to be. You don't judge them or label them as "bad" or "negative". Sometimes, with anxiety, you might feel a tightness in your chest and you would normally describe that as "painful" instead, try to explain how it feels like "heavy".
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness and acceptance go hand in hand in many ways. Mindfulness is used to stay in the moment so that you can observe those anxious feelings.
âI am noticing that I feel anxious(mindfulness). I don't have to like it but I accept that it is there.(acceptance).
2 Things to Try:
One issue that comes up with anxiety is spiraling thoughts. When your thoughts start to get out of control and just keep rolling and getting bigger and bigger and scarier, it pulls you out of the present moment (mindfulness).
Instead of letting your thoughts spiral, try this:
Tell yourself (or your partner or friend), âIâm really stressed about money right now. But I canât do anything about it over the weekend or until I can sit down with my budget later. Iâm going to put these thoughts away until I can focus on it and figure it out."
When you are experiencing anxiety, pause for a moment and instead of focusing on the tightening in your chest, the racing thoughts etc...pay attention to your senses.
What can you smell right now? What are you hearing? What are you touching? Don't judge anything, just feel it and it can help ground you in the here and now.
These techniques might seem simple but they do work. And they do take practice.

You must consult an RCI recognised Clinical Psychologist. You should start taking psychotherapy. The psychotherapeutic techniques will be very beneficial to you.
You need to consult the Doctor. Try to take consultation from a psychologist for the same as it will give you long time relief. Try not to totally depend yourself over medications.
It's always best to consult the doctor before starting or stopping any medicine. You might be facing the same symptoms but the reason might be different. This also allows the doctor to reevaluate the situation and change medicine or treatment plan.
