Anxiety problem
I have a small anxiety problem about my work and always feel I am not good enough, I keep working for long hours and not taking care of my health, I am relying heavily on tea/coffee. I am 85kg and unable to reduce my weight, I am expecting a baby soon and thinking about the future is giving me more anxiety about my health, family and work. How can we avoid this feeling. I want to achieve these 4 goals 1) Eat healthy 2) work out daily 3) perform my best at work 4) Be available more for my family.

Hi, There are a lot big changes coming up for you. It is natural to feel overwhelmed. Trying to do a lot of things together and doing everything "right" might increase the anxious feelings. The four goals you have mentioned are behaviour oriented it might be a good idea to also work on the thoughts. Behaviour is governed by thoughts a lot of the time. Try this: answer these questions for yourself. 1) why do I want to exercise? How many hours of exercise per week will make me feel like I have actually accomplished this goal? suggestion- don't think in absolutes here. 2) define eating healthy- what does it mean? How will you know you are eating healthy? 3) define what working your best means? How will you know you have achieved this? 4) how will you know that you are more available for your family? Would it be in actions, time spend, activities? 5) Most importantly-to create lasting habits make them easy and enjoyable for you. " what is the simplest and easiest thing I can do to start with this activity?" Sometimes we know what we need to do in terms of behaviour but our thoughts create a barrier. Working on thoughts helps break down the barrier.
Next Steps
consult a mental health professional and book an one-on-one appointment.
Health Tips
the tips given might be difficult to go through on your own, talking to a professional eases the process and the support and guidance is helpful. please book an appointment with me or any other psychologist you feel comfortable with. I hope you find the help you are looking for.
