Anxiety Disorder
Hey! I've a friend who has anxiety disorder and she's going through other personal issues as well. She's been seeing a psychologist. But it seems like it isn't progressing. Or the therapist is not giving home work well. Should she keep seeing this one. Or change to another one??? What are things that one should look for in a good therapist?

Many times only therapy will not work. She might need medicinal support along with therapy. Anxiety disorder can be well treated with a holistic approach. She needs therapy, medicine, exercise, diet and meditation. It can be well treated with counseling sessions and homeopathic medicine if required. Homeopathic medicine will be safe and non addictive. She needs an expert Psychologist who is a good homeopathic physician.

Hey! So, you and your friend don’t have to worry. See, mental health and mental concerns are very vivid in nature. A lot of times some therapist’s techniques might not suite you so well, sometimes you might not see great progress (could be because of any factor) and a lot of times you might have to change your psychologist as there are certain unrecognised barriers in therapy. This is completely normal and does not mean that the therapist isn’t good or that your friend’s condition is getting worse. It just means that it is time for a change and look for someone who is better suited. When we have to get home new sofas, we sit on them and try to access the comfort we’re looking for right? Then, why not do that with a professional you’re seeking help with.
Next Steps
1. Talk to the therapist and tell them your issue. 2. Discuss how the therapy can be terminated 3. Be polite and understanding that it is not your psychologists mistake. 4. Look for a better suited psychologist.

Perhaps it will be a good idea to look for an experienced psychologist who has worked with CBT and REBT to deal with anxiety. Also it's very important that your friend should have developed good rapport with her therapist. That will ease her anxiety and possibly give better results.
Next Steps
check for another psychologist or psychotherapist

Hello. I would like to start by saying, therapy is a slow process and I'm sorry if your friend hasn’t seen any progress yet. It is important to be open with the counsellor/therapist and give it sometime for them to fully understand the concerns. If your friend is unable to find comfort or progress in the process, she can change her therapist and look for someone who she finds comfort in. Anxiety disorder healing is a slow process and fluctuates (increase/reduce) according to triggers. You can suggest your friend to continue with her and if it still does not help, she can change her counsellor/therapist and find someone else who she is more comfortable with, who is patient with her, listens to her, encourages anxiety reducing practices and therapies.
Next Steps
Seek counselling/ therapy. I am happy to help if your friend requires.

Encourage your friend to openly discuss her concerns in her current therapy sessions as this dialogue can potentially lead to a breakthrough in her progress. It's essential for her therapist to understand her needs and make necessary adjustments. Effective communication can greatly enhance the therapeutic process.

Hi.. I doubt the number of sessions is less than 6-8. If that is the case, please wait and let the therapy take it's own course. It is not something one can rush through or achieve faster. There is nothing like a good or bad therapist. To put it in right words, I would suggest you to consult a qualified professional who has spent more than 3-4 years into seeing active cases. Also, I hope this diagnosis (anxiety disorder) is coming from a medical professional (psychiatrist) and not based on any assumptions. Actual therapy is way different from how it is depicted in movies or media. It is a clinical process and not some feeling good exercise. The path to recovery goes through a series of pains and struggle and falling bad. What matters is that the client/person and the therapist are able to form a bond of trust on each other and are willing to work through the process. Please avoid falling into this trap of jugging the therapist as a person or a professional. Please rather rely on his/her qualification & experience, or rather go through a reference from a person who has actually benefited from therapy. Remember, nothing is going to change before the trust is build.
Next Steps
Continue for 6-8 session on weekly basis, if still not feeling right, consult another Psychologist. CBT along with Psycho-education is required.

Hi dear, These are qualities that I believe that a psychologist or a therapist should have: 1.patience 2.patience 3.patience 4.good rapport with clients 5.listening skills 6.not money oriented 7.thorough UPDATED academic and general knowledge (professionally well qualified, rather than a psuedo scientific approach) 8.compassionate 9.worksheets must be given 10.exchange of ideas must happen 11.problem solving skills 12.result oriented approach 13.Exercises must be given and evaluate its progress. 14.knowledge about various therapy options.    If u don't see any progress you are wasting your money. unlike medications, wen it comes to therapy and psychology the skill of the therapist matters a lot.
