Nerve problems after wisdom teeth extrac

2025-08-19 10:18:02
I had my upper left wisdom tooth extracted in April 2025, but a month later, I developed pain due to a pinpoint bone spur in the area, which was surgically removed in the first week of June 2025. After one month, I’ve been experiencing mild, lingering discomfort in the operated area, along with tingling between my upper lip and nose on the left side. Before the bone spur procedure, a CBCT scan showed no abnormalities, and my doctor assured me everything was fine. I’ve been taking vitamin B12 for the past six days, but the tingling and mild pain persist, mostly during rest and improving when I talk or eat. Interestingly, I wake up with no pain or tingling, but the sensations gradually return as the day progresses. I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Tingling, numbness, mild discomfort after such minor surgical procedure is normal response hence there’s nothing to worry about if the scan is showing no abnormality or any remains of extracted tooth.
Next Steps
It will go on its own in some time.
Health Tips
Continue taking tablet b12/cynocobalamine/neurobion forte for 1month at least once a daily

Donot worry, usually anesthesia for wisdom tooth removal will not have any relation with the upper lip and nose area, it may be coincidental. Anyway it’s subsiding. Wait and watch.
Health Tips
You can take Neurobion forte tablet if tingling sensation continues

Wisdom teeth are present closer to our nerves. While operating, there's always a slight chance that the dentist may irritate it. In your case, this irritation is temporary and may disappear within a few weeks or months.
Next Steps
Do not miss follow up visits.

Hi! Your tingling is most likely from temporary nerve irritation after the extraction and bone spur removal. Nerve healing is slow and can take a few weeks to a few months. Please continue with Vitamin B12, eat a healthy diet, and avoid pressing the area. Most patients notice gradual improvement within 2–3 months. If the tingling increases, spreads, or doesn’t improve after 3 months, visit your oral surgeon!

Your pain and tingling after 3 months means the area hasn’t healed fully. Sometimes it’s due to nerve irritation or small infection even if the X-ray looks normal. Don’t worry about it. It will take time to heal.
Next Steps
Continue medication what your doctor has prescribed
Health Tips
Warm water saline rinses and maintain good oral hygiene
