2024-10-19 06:04:32
My son went to play badminton. He came back after some time saying he was feeling weak and heart beat was too fast.he drank lot of eater, ate and slept. Today morning when he got up again he said his heart is beating fast. Please let me know what should I do

Good evening, Normally when we play, exercise or do any heavy work our heat rate increases, but here in this case we can't jump into any conclusion as there's a lot of history missing like, is it the first time, what is the age of pt. , habits, any family history or any previous medical history. And also the ECG is missing.
Next Steps
-Get an 12 lead ECG, if there is any abnormalities in ECG the consult a Cardiologist. -If ECG is normal then do a CBC, Lipid profile and based upon the reports we can discuss

Your son is experiencing rapid heartbeat (tachycardia) and weakness, especially after exercise. While these symptoms could be related to dehydration, overexertion, or even anxiety, they could also indicate something more serious. It’s important to address this promptly.
Next Steps
Here’s what you can do: 1. Stay Calm: Keep your son calm and encourage him to rest. Anxiety can sometimes make heart palpitations worse. 2. Hydration: Ensure he drinks water, but not too much at once. Dehydration can sometimes cause rapid heartbeats, but excessive water intake can also be harmful. 3. Check His Pulse: If you can, try to check his pulse. A normal resting heart rate for children over 10 years old and adults is typically between 60 and 100 beats per minute. 4. Monitor for Other Symptoms: Check for dizziness, chest pain, shortness of breath, or fainting. If any of these symptoms are present, you should seek medical help immediately.
Health Tips
Seek Medical Advice: If his rapid heartbeat persists or recurs, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional right away. It could be a sign of a heart issue, electrolyte imbalance, or something else that needs medical evaluation. Since the rapid heartbeats have occurred twice, it’s important to get a professional opinion as soon as possible to rule out any serious underlying conditions.

An elevated heart rate can result from excessive exertion. It's important to monitor the heart regularly, and if the resting heart rate consistently exceeds 100 bpm, an ECG should be performed. Limiting caffeine intake is also advised. Additionally, make sure to consider any medications the patient is currently taking.
