Please consult a General Physician in your area for a physical examination. Two weeks is too long a time for the cough and cold not being treated. Azithromycin is a weak antibiotic but it should be changed only after a physical examination by a General Physician. Please get her CBC done and consult a General Physician with the report.

Your mother has been experiencing persistent cough and cold for two weeks despite treatment with azithromycin. Here are my suggestions: 1. Investigations: Conduct a sputum test for AFB to rule out tuberculosis, as prolonged cough warrants exclusion of such possibilities. Consider a chest X-ray if required. 2. Medication Adjustment: Add Montair LC (levocetirizine and montelukast) once daily at bedtime for 2 weeks to address any allergic component. Prescribe Syp Ascoril D 10 ml thrice daily to help with symptoms of cough. 3. Supportive Care: Encourage steam inhalation 2-3 times daily. Stay hydrated and consume warm fluids like ginger tea or soups. 4. Other Considerations: If symptoms persist or worsen, viral or post-infectious cough, asthma, or GERD should be considered. For a detailed evaluation and personalized treatment, please consult me. You can contact me via WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two.

For cold management, opt for a soothing diet rich in vitamin C, zinc, and fluids, featuring foods like citrus fruits, ginger, garlic, chicken soup, honey, and warm liquids like tea and broth.
