Adverse effect of High Triglyceride
My age is 26.  I have abdominal fat. I went through Lipid Profile test and in the report it is found that I have high Triglyceride (395 mg/dL) . But LDL is not that much high (106 mg/dL). Please let me know , the ill effects of High Triglyceride . Under such condition , do I need to start any Statin medication or only fat burning excercise (running, cycling etc.) will suffice to reduce the Triglyceride level ? Please see the attached report for more clarity. I have made a comparison table between the current lipid profile values vs what was 3 months back.

You have moderately raised triglycerides.Primary measures to decrease triglycerides is dietary, including alcohol reduction, reducing fatty foods and excessive dietary carbohydrates and physical exercise regularly. As your LDL cholesterol level is alright,at present there's no reason start medication specifically for triglycerides. When triglycerides level is above 500 mg/dl there's a risk of getting pancreatitis. There is no harm to use omega 3 1000 mg daily once. Repeat your lipid profile along with liver function tests , thyroid function tests after 3 months.

You have not mentioned your weight and height . But seeing your efforts i would advice you to start statins and keep making efforts in diet and exercise to loose weight . High triglycerides are also not good for your heart health.
