ACL & meniscus Reconstruction
Hi I have undergone ACL reconstruction & meniscus repair in the month of March 2020. Its been 6 months now. My question is, I still have little swelling on my knee and little pain while folding leg, However I can make full moment of that knee. I just want to know if it is normal to have little pain and swelling on knee after 6 month of surgery. Also what exercise should be done to recover faster?

Hello Ma'am, It's  better to consult with a nearby physiotherapist for better assessment and tailor-made exercise protocol. Still would to suggest few excercises that would be safe for your knees, like walking, swimming, water aerobics which can strengthen the muscles that support your knee and increase flexibility. But still would advise to consult physio first.

Hello having pain in some weight bearing activities such as stair climbing, walking or turnings might be triggering factor in your condition. My suggestion to you closely monitor which are the activities causing pain, if possible try to avoid them. Start strengthening exercise once the pain reduces more than 50% by following Rest or Moist Heat therapy Still you have the same problem try to consulting  therapist to know the existing condition of the knee as well as the Acurate way of performing the exercises

Usually ACL injuries could have some continuing swelling. Sometimes they shave under knee cap if they do that it could have some swelling for some extra time. There are different stages of exercising. -One is bed bound, leg lifts on your back sideways and on your tummy - secondly, to improve strength with weight bearing like squats, exercise bike, etc - third wobble board and balance exercises - sport specific plyometric training
Next Steps
sometimes as a result of some weakness there can be some patellofemoral (knee cap) issues, which will need icing for 15 minutes with towel wrapping, 3 times per day
Health Tips
static quads on flat surface with ice on is good for swelling.

If the pain is there only while doing some activities like walking, using the staircase means, that is normal. But the pain and swelling is there constantly after 6months  means we should be concern about it.
Next Steps
Please consult a Sports Physiotherapist
