Absess in my rootcanal teeth
Hi, I had done my root canal treatment about 1year ago and there was an absess at time of root canal but the doctor told after some day's the absess will fade away. It's been 1year now but still the absess is not gone and also usually I have some pain and puss formation in the absess. Please inform if there is any problem if the absess is near the teeth and needs any treatment. There is no pain in the teeth but absess has puss and slight pain.

Dear Sir I would like to thank you for asking this question. Without taking names I would agree with only one the suggestion given to you. First of all incomplete information is the mother of all clinical goof ups both at the patient and doctor end. I am not trying to start any debate. Just trying to explain the importance of complete information. You have asked a simple question which says there was abscess and thus RCT was done but still the abscess is persistent on and off . It is quintessential to understand and find out the reason of abscess formation before starting endodontic treatment. Prognosis of any treatment depends on proper diagnosis. Now with incomplete information it is difficult to tell whether your tooth was fractured at first place ? Was it just an Endo issue or Endo perio issue ? Why obturation was done when there was acute or subacute abscess ? Or it disappeared but reappeared ? Whether you followed all the biting and hygiene instructions ? If there’s a prosthetic crown on the RC treated tooth ? What is the status of mobility of the tooth ? Is there any recent radiograph which can be compared with pre treatment and immediate post treatment radiograph to understand progression of disease ? Re RCT have its own pros n cons. Popping antibiotics blindly will always have more cons then pros.
Next Steps
Please consult an Endodontist ( Root Canal Specialist )
Health Tips
I would suggest my fellow colleagues to please read ADA & AAE guidelines on Antibiotic in Dentistry and importance of DCDT.

Hello Sir.,           In Root canal treatment , if the canals are completely cleaned and sealed off, there won't be any abscess formation in it. We need to do a clinical examination and have to check with an X-Ray, and then proceed with the require treatment.
