Rama Varier, born in a distinguished and scholarly family in 1908, was a man of immense knowledge with great compassion and love for mankind. A humanitarian, philosopher, scholar and physician par excellence Varierstarted practicing Ayurveda after graduating from the Ayurveda College, Kottakkal. In 1943, he independently set out to propagate Ayurveda and establish the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (AVP) in Coimbatore. In 1959 he started an Ayurveda Hospital which is presently known as The Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam and Research Institute.Currently run by Sri. P. R. Krishna Kumar, the head of the AVP Group leads a zealous quest for excellence, like his father and founder of AVP, both in service and products.
