A few months ago, all four of my wisdom teeth started giving me pain and having me living with terrible headaches, pain while eating. My teeth were extracted two at a time in two separate sittings with one follow up between the two procedures. I was given medication for pain management ( PHEW, I was really dreading all the pain that were to come) and open channels to communicate and reach out in case of any necessity.

My surgeons spoke me through the procedure and even cracked some jokes in the hope to get me to relax and lighten up. I was allowed to take breaks during the procedure to rest my jaw or to request more numbing agent if I was feeling pain midway.

I think my biggest boon was that i could advocate for myself, my pain levels were taken seriously and not dismissed, which is a huge green flag for me and I felt taken care of.
