Dr Panikar is awesome. I have been going to him for the past two years. The thing is - he has always lot of patients - so one feels a little "off" getting past the process of getting your body parameters checked, data filled up, and meet up with the other required doctors as the case may be (Eye, ECG, etc). But believe me, it is still managed quite well, considering the number of patients who troop in daily to the Doctor.
I saw some other post here, not being happy on the Doctor's attention span being broken and a "light"attitude!. I think it is completely misplaced. He is light and jovial, only to possibly keep you happy. Half of our problems are because we get stressed or distressed about the disease. *** ** ** *** **** ** *** ** ** ********* *********** ******* I have seen him handling multiple things in his clinic, and with clinical precision!
Keep your doubts aside. He is really very good. Only thing, just be regular in your visits, and stay fitter by exercise & diet regime!
Cheers
R Kotian

Don't ever recommend him if you really want to get genuine treatment. I have been observing him for quite a few months now, nearly more than a year. His two assistants keep constantly interrupting him with their own patients & doubts and queries, when he is personally diagnosing someone. This completely breaks his link. Also this time he also invited another doctor inside who had just come to meet him casually and was more distracted with all this rather than treating my mom who had very high levels of almost everything in her reports this time. Her sugar levels high post lunch and this so call doctor prescribes her half a tab of her anti-diabetic pill when usually he prescribes 1 and with 1 tab itself her sugar level is high so isn't the dosage supposed to increase. Also, every doubt and query I asked him he kept taking it very lightly and carelessly saying "its okay, itna hi hai naa." or saying "diabetes ke wajah se hai" I know its because of diabetes or low haemoglobin or whatever. Don't give me obvious answers which I know through my education and through the internet, being a doctor consult effectively and find a solution or else sit at home. Do not play with your patient's life. How about if someone played with his life or his family member's life? how would he feel? I didn't expect this from such a senior doctor. All bogus and money making business. Doctors who treat their patients without being honest to their work and conscious should be ashamed of themselves and have no right to live in this world in the first place as they are one of the few people who are equivalent to God and actually hold a person's life in their hands apart from God.

Very bad experience!..If you are coming from outstation, don't expect any help or response from them coz...You may be given mob no.s /email and asked to call anytime when necessary..but they won't respond!!..its your loss of time!!..
...In a nutshell..Its just a highly experienced doctor with tool little time with a pool juniors + untrained local "anybody" type staff (..i am sure uncertified too) + rude receptionist.
...Also, You PAY Dr's fee and get to meet a junior who will hear you out..go to the dr's cabin..will mention to the dr only 10% of what you said ..and thats it...and you will then be told..its normal ...nothing to worry..hota hai...Voila!! You just visited a Highly experienced diabetoligist!!...
...my dad being an outstation patient was asked to start insulin injections to control sugar level so that he can be operated for heart surgery at another hospital..and was prescribed medication. Looking at few days Pre operation sugar level drops, operating drs team cancelled pills and continued with insulin injections only..he was operated successfully..all was good..post op in icu same "only insulin" continued without any issue...he was on insulin for the operation only but 8 days post op..this diabetoligist asked to increase indulin units along with medications that were initially stopped!!!..just within few days my dad's energy levels dropped...knees & shoulders started paining..we were not in mumbai and had returned back home..when we tried to reach them on mob./ emails..there was no response at all..after 5 days and 3 emails and 1 text message(emails sent..please check spam folder)...we got a response...it read "please consult locally, he should be seen by a doctor"...
...we did manage to reach another dr. from his clinic but it wont be possible to mention that horrific conversation without restricted words..so that sums up al lot!!

First they make you meet their dentist and then the eye specialist. after that paramedics take your BP and ECG and then you meet the junior doctor. The junior doctor prescribes you the medicine but if asked for explanations, she is unable to give proper explanations for recommending the medicines and says that Dr. Panikar will come and see you. Then she goes and calls Dr. Panikar from his cabin and he walks in, shakes hands and reads the prescription and okays it. Then he asks his junior about some medicines as to why it has been prescribed and she simply says because of medical report. Both the jr. doctor and Dr. Panikar downplay certain symptoms and don't give any plausible explanation. You leave them completely unsatisfied after waiting for more than one hour.
A repeat visit is the same story. You meet the junior doctor again but you pay the fees for Dr. Panikar. All he does is that he walks in and stamps the medication of his junior doctor. Thats really unfair. Again both the doctors neither attempt to understand the symptoms nor give an explanation.
Dr. Panikar is renowned and associated with Leelavati Hospital. So anyone who wishes to see him should go to Leelavati rather than to his clinic as you will be paying his fees but will be attended to by his junior doctor. Also they don't give you receipts. So please insist on getting a receipt for what you pay.
