Dr. Rajendra Kanakia completed his MBBS and MD – Internal Medicine from the Grant Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals. After his MD Medicine, he went on to join the gastroenterology department at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai. He worked towards the department recognition for National Board of Examination and became the first DNB student from this institute. During his tenure at LTMGA he trained in various aspects of gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy. He participated in research projects and was awarded a pool officer’s post through the CSIR, (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research). For his advanced training in gastroenterology, endoscopy and endosonographic, Dr. Kanakia visited the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam and was trained by Prof. J.N.J Tytgat and Prof. Paul Fockens in 1995 and 2000.He is at present attached to the prestigious Lilavati Hospital and research center, Raheja Fortis Hospital and Lion Tarachand Bappa Hospital.Dr. Rajendra Kanakia has recently added capsule endoscopy to his state of the art endoscopy suite. This helps detect obscure bleeding in the small intestine which is not accessible to gastroscopy and colonoscopy.Dr. Rajendra Kanakia’s passion for using technology for medical education made him pioneer medivision. This was the one of the CME program on national television in India. He was credited with the launch of India's one of the healthcare portal in 2002. He has now established health varsity, India's one of the online training portals for doctors. An excellent teacher, he is very well known for his lectures for family physicians. He has co-authored Kanakia Health Express, a newsletter for doctors.Dr. Rajendra Kanakia is a member of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology. Dr. Kanakia has been instrumental and founder member of Grant Medical College alumni association one of the oldest medical institutions of India.

He is a thorough professional, gives ample time to each patient and does thorough examination...gives a printed copy of prescription and he does not recommend any lab for the tests he suggests. Such an honest and no nonsense man, he is a very friendly doctor I would surely recommend anyone who has gastro problems to consult him. Best thing every thing is digital, even his prescription No doctor's handwriting issues. He also asks for digital copies of reports on mail So no old world style of dealing with a doctor.

THE DOCTOR IS A GEM OF A PERSON. HE EXAMINED ME, SAW MY REPORTS AND EXPLAINED TO ME THE TREATMENT AND CURE TO MY AILMENT. ALWAYS WAS SMILING. IN FACT I WAS HALF CURED ONLY BY LISTENING TO HIS KIND AND ENCOURAGING WORDS. HE WAS NOT IN A HURRY LIKE OTHER DOCTORS SO THAT THE NEXT PATIENT COULD BE DEALT WITH.
