Dr. Rajendra Badwe

On 23rd Sept 2016, Dr Badwe, *** ********* ******* *** Director of Tata Memorial Cancer hospital in Mumbai, performed mastectomy on my 81-year-old wife Indira. This just saved her from becoming another victim of breast cancer.

We had absolutely no prior inkling of the largish tumour that had been growing unnoticed in the right breast, and were stunned when this was revealed in a mammography conducted a few weeks earlier.

Indira has had Diabetes for over 10 years. She had also undergone a quadruple heart bypass cum mitral valve change operation just 3 years earlier. Considering her age and diabetic and coronary history, we felt at a complete dead end. Consulting several doctors in Delhi only convinced us that Chemotherapy was an extremely risky option for her.

Seeing our desperate predicament, my daughter Nalini, a senior Railway Accounts officer, insisted on our rushing to Mumbai, and took us to Tata Memorial Hospital. She reached out to Dr Badwe directly, who promptly responded to her SMS request, and agreed to meet us immediately.

After just one physical examination, confirmed next day by scans, Dr. Badwe carried out the breast surgery two days later.

He completely removed the diseased breast and a large number of affected lymph nodes in the axila adjacent to the breast, and confidently discharged her from hospital on the 24th itself.

Apart from conducting this life saving surgery on the high risk patient, Dr. Badwe also filled my wife with a huge amount of confidence that the cancer had been fully removed from her body.

Indira is now recovering well. She has been advised 6 weeks of radiation therapy, possibly followed by some mild chemo. To our immeasurable relief she is alive, mobile, and STILL WITH ME.
