It can be Dequervain tenosynovitis, which is Stenosing tenosynovitis (means the tunnel through which the tendons go has shrunken in size) of thumb tendons.
80% of patients benefit with analgesics,
If not subsided,it needs a Steroid injection into the sheath which can work for 2-3 months,
Best treatment is Surgery where we release the tunnel through which the tendons pass..Can be done with local anesthesia as an Outpatient procedure.
After surgery thumb can be mobilized immediately after pain relief..
