Hello. Wisdom teeth (3rd molar) erupts by the age of 18-21 years of age. Sometimes, the wisdom tooth does not erupt completely and remains impacted in the gums. This can cause Pericoronitis (severe pain, swelling and inflammation in the area of the wisdom tooth), pain in your gums, while chewing, headache, radiating pain to ears, neck and cheeks. Such a tooth can also cause cavity to the tooth beside it. It is best advised to extract the tooth as soon as diagnosed. Kindly visit an oral surgeon for extraction of the tooth.
