Hello there. Dieting and cardio workout when combined gives the best results. By Dieting you would be cutting down on your calorie intake but not compromising on the nutrients. I'm talking about a proper diet chart by a good dietician. Cardio workout would help in burning those calories so that the stored energy in the form of fat can be burned.
