Wanted to know if RT PCR test is require
My son is 10 years old, having fever since yesterday morning. His stomach is not upset, but he is just clearing his throat frequently but not coughing. I have given him paracetamol 250mg 2 times. After taking medicines fever drops down, but again it comes back mostly at evening. Fever stays at 99 -100. Does it a symptoms of viral fever or do I need to take him for RT PCR test. Please advice.

Any fever in this scenario has to be considered covid unless proven otherwise. Please get a covid Rtpcr at the earliest. It is the only confirmatory test for covid at presrnt. You may avail of a fever profile as well to rule out other causes like malaria, dengue, typhoid etc... But covid first. Better safe! Kindly feel free to contact me in case of any further queries. Take care
