Vitamin D deficiency and Ankle pain
I've had right ankle pain (burning inflammation kind) on and off since a decade. I've been to two different doctors and did blood test which showed that I have Vitamin D deficiency. They have always given me antiinflammatories, vitamin tablets(D and B) and some pain killer. However the pain comes back as soon as the course of the medication is over. They say that the major cause is vitamin D deficiency, but shouldn't all the bones and joint hurt if that's the case. However I only have ankle pain. I have mentioned to them that when I was younger I did sprain my ankle, so I was wondering if it didn't heal properly and thats why it hurts all the time now, but they said that can't be the case and previous injury is irrelevant. I'm really tired of my ankle hurting almost half of the year. Is vitamin D deficiency really causing this and if so how come I'm not fatigued or other bone/joint does not hurt and only my ankle hurts?

Yes you are partially correct with regards to generalised joint pains in view of vitamin D deficiency , but do realise that your feet and ankles are the most stressed out joints along with your knees as they bear the weight of your body , that being said if despite correction , if pain persists , with swelling and reddish hue over the skin , it is safe to assume that it could be inflammatory in nature , does your pain increase on consuming high protein foods or if you consume alcohol , do get an esr , crp and serum uric acid teat done , also when the pain is most intense and if there is a swelling to accompany get an HRUS of the specific ankle joint .
