Her  vitamin B12 level is 300 pg/mL, so injections are not needed at this time. To maintain healthy levels, you can take oral B12 (around 1000 µg daily) for a few months. Include B12-rich foods like eggs, milk, fish, chicken, and fortified cereals. Adding folic acid 5mg OD can also support B12 utilization.

Normal range: 200 – 900 pg/mL (varies by lab) <200 → Deficiency 200–400 → Borderline (sometimes symptomatic, sometimes not) >400 → Sufficient So at 300 pg/mL, she is borderline. --- ✅ Management 1. Does she need injections? If she has symptoms (fatigue, tingling/numbness in hands/feet, memory issues, mood changes) → Yes, injections are preferred. If she is asymptomatic (just routine finding) → Oral supplementation is usually enough. 2. Oral supplementation Tab. Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg OD × 3 months OR Tab. Cyanocobalamin 1000 mcg OD × 3 months 3. Injections (if symptoms present or absorption problem suspected, e.g. gastritis, elderly, vegetarian diet) Inj. Methylcobalamin 1000 mcg IM weekly × 4 weeks, then monthly × 3–6 months 4. Dietary Advice Milk, paneer, curd, eggs, fish, chicken If vegetarian → fortified cereals/soy milk

A vitamin B12 level of around 300 pg/mL is in the low–normal range. In most cases, oral supplements are sufficient unless there are absorption issues (like chronic gastritis, pernicious anemia, or after stomach surgery). Injections are usually given if the deficiency is severe, if symptoms like numbness/tingling are present, or if absorption from tablets is poor.
Next Steps
Discuss with your doctor whether to continue with oral B12 tablets first. • If she has significant symptoms (tingling, weakness, memory issues), then injections may be preferred. • Repeat B12 levels and homocysteine/methylmalonic acid (if available) can help confirm whether supplementation is working.
Health Tips
No need to worry—her level is not dangerously low. Regular supplementation and monitoring are usually enough. Maintain a balanced diet including dairy, eggs, and fortified cereals (if non-vegetarian, lean meats/fish also help). Injections should only be started if clearly advised by her doctor.

A Vitamin B12 level of 300 pg/mL is usually considered borderline or low-normal depending on the lab reference range. Most people with this level do not require injections if they are not having symptoms like fatigue, numbness, tingling, or memory issues. What can help: Increase dietary sources: eggs, dairy, meat, fish. Oral B12 supplements can be used if diet alone is insufficient. Only if she develops symptoms of deficiency or levels drop further would injections be recommended. Bottom line: At 300 pg/mL, oral supplementation and dietary improvement are usually enough, and injections are not mandatory.
