Hello everyone. My baby will complete 6 months tomorrow. We have given her government vaccines in Telangana state. Are government vaccines enough for her ? Or else we should give her extra vaccines which are provided by private clinics. If yes. Can you please tell me what vaccine should be given at a private clinic. The government vaccines provided in Telangana under the Universal Immunization Programme are highly effective and cover the most essential life-threatening diseases, including Tuberculosis (BCG), Polio (OPV/IPV), Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, and Hib (Pentavalent), Rotavirus, and Pneumococcal (PCV). These are considered sufficient for basic protection.
Next Steps
you can also choose add on vaccines available at private clinics.
Health Tips
Always carry your Mother and Child Protection (MCP) card to every appointment, whether at a government or private facility, to ensure all doses are tracked correctly

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician (Ex Govt Medical Officer at RML Hospital, New Delhi), and your case has been allotted to me. First of all, congratulations 😊 You are doing the right thing by ensuring timely vaccination. Important reassurance The government vaccination schedule (UIP) in India is very good and sufficient for essential protection. If your baby has received vaccines up to 14 weeks, she is well protected against major diseases. Do you need additional vaccines from private clinics? Not compulsory, but some optional vaccines provide extra protection and are commonly recommended. Optional vaccines to consider • Pneumococcal vaccine (PCV) – Protects against pneumonia, ear infections, meningitis – Some doses are given in government setup, but private versions may offer broader coverage • Rotavirus vaccine – Usually already given in government schedule – Confirm doses are complete • Influenza vaccine (Flu shot) – Can be started after 6 months – Given yearly • Typhoid conjugate vaccine (TCV) – Around 9 to 12 months • Hepatitis A vaccine – Around 1 year What to do now at 6 months • Continue government schedule without missing any dose • You may start Influenza vaccine from a private clinic if you wish • Discuss PCV status with your pediatrician (whether additional doses needed) Important advice • Do not give all optional vaccines blindly • Follow a pediatrician guided schedule • Maintain vaccination record properly Bottom line 👉 Government vaccines are sufficient and reliable 👉 Optional vaccines are add-on protection, not mandatory For a personalised vaccination chart and guidance, you can reach out to me on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven. Wishing your baby good health and strong immunity. Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

Government vaccines are essential and sufficient for basic protection. Optional (private): pneumococcal (PCV), rotavirus (if missed), influenza yearly. At 6 months continue routine schedule. Consult pediatrician to customize.

Goverment schedule is quite comprehensive and covers basic illnesses that are threatening to life. The rest are based on parental interest. Like if you prefer your child to not go through the pain of having scars all over the body with chicken pox you can take chicken pox vaccine, Influenza vaccine if your child frequently gets cold and cough and so on

Continue with the government vaccination schedule—it covers all the essential and life-threatening diseases and is very effective. There is no need to worry if your baby has received vaccines up to 14 weeks as per the schedule.the most important step is to continue all upcoming government vaccines on time.
Next Steps
If you wish, you may consider a few optional vaccines from private clinics (like for Rotavirus infection, Pneumococcal disease, Influenza).
