Upper gums and hard palate
Hello Docs, I quit chewing pan masala (tobacco less) since 6 weeks. Also I used to smoke (clove cigarettes)which I quit since 3 weeks. I don't know why but my tea consumption is now increased. I feel like I have mild burnt my upper gum because of hot tea, I don't have pain or burning but when I rub my tongue on upper gum specially in the middle the small part of it feels like different, it feels like mild swelling. Soon I will get rid of those yellow colour from my teeth, can u please check my upper gums and hard palate are these in good condition. Just for the information my mouth opening is approx 34 to 36 mm. Warm regards

First of all congratulations on stopping the habit. Having worked in the national tobacco cessation progam for the last6 years,  i know how much determination is needed to stop this habit. (Cigarettes have tobacco, no matter how they advertise). Your tea consumption has increased because of the cravings. Do consult me to know more about dealing with post-stoppage difficulties. Now, regarding your oral health. I see the effects of the habits have not left yet. First, you need to have a thorough scaling done as your teeth show a lot of deposits. It reduces the inflammation in your gums as well so the pain will subside and so will the weird feeling that you have described. Do warm saline gargles twice daily,  maintain a good oral hygiene routine. You can apply cooling analgesic  gel Dologel on the affected area to reduce symptoms.
Next Steps
1.Good oral hygiene 2.Warm saline gargles twice daily 3.Thorough scaling and root planing 4.Regular dental visits every 6 months 5.Post-habit-stoppage revival programmes (You can consult me if you have doubts about that)
Health Tips
Do not succumb to the habit again.
