Tongue Tie in children is very common and in future it can cause lisping or poor pronunciation. For your son who is one and a half year old best method would be to get the tongue tie removed with LASERS only. Surgical removal will be very traumatic to the child. The procedure will be undertaken under General Anaesthesia mostly.
Next Steps
Go to a Pediatric Dentist get a consultation done and let him evaluate how the condition is hampering your child growth and speech. Whether procedure is required at this age or it can be deferred for some time more.
