The wisdom teeth is Impacted on both upper and lower jaw. That is the only reason for the severe pain. It should be removed otherwise it will create problems in future also.

Wisdom tooth is causing the pain you are feeling. It won't erupt as their is hinderence in its erupting pathway. So it's better to go for extraction.
Warm saline water rinses two to three times a day, if you are feeling discomfort, apply ice pack outside mouth if you feel swelling on face. But remember these things will give you temporary relief only. Permanent solution is to get it extracted.
Wisdom teeth has no role to play in your chewing as they are impacted ( within the bone) so it is better to remove them to get rid of the pain.
You can also ask the doctor if anything is to be examined about your jaw joints. This can be evaluated with clinical examination.
