Tooth pain after RCT radiating to ear
Hello doctor I had RCT done for one of the molars on the lower right side on Friday. The dentist asked to wait for 3 days to proceed with the permanent cap. I had severe pain that I had to take pain killers. I went on Monday and since I still had the pain they didn't proceed , asked to wait for a few more days. Took X ray and there wasn't any signs of infection. Asked to take pain killer if the pain doesn't subside and said some people experience pain as the body is taking time to adjust to the new artificial nerves and the root canal done. Even now I have pain in the right lower jaw and it's extending upto my right ear. Is this normal? Please let me know. Note: I am currently on TNF blocker injection.

hello sir, evry patient is different and every body respond in different ways. Some dont have pain at all and some experinece excruciating pain radiating to ear depending on spread of infection. First option is to wait and watch , secodnly get over all oral check with necessary xrays to rule out other possibilites.

Your pain severity seems to be higher than usual in relation to your treatment in progress. A wait and watch is alright. But an OPG or CBCT should be done in order to check the surrounding structures of the tooth being treated.

As described it seems that the intensity of pain is high in your case.. Well in this condition you can go for full mouth xray(opg) so that we can figure out if there is some other cause of pain

Hie... If you are saying that pain is untolerable then go for an opg or cbct to evaluate the condition....having too much pain killer is not good ..... kindly attach your xray...
