Thyroid Function Report Summary:
T3 = 203 ng/dL (slightly high)
(Normal: 80–200 ng/dL)
T4 = 9.1 µg/dL (normal)
(Normal: 5.1–14.1 µg/dL)
TSH = 2.57 µIU/mL (normal)
(Normal: 0.27–4.2 µIU/mL)
📌 Interpretation Based on Harrison’s Manual:
🔍 Possible Diagnosis:
Euthyroid with isolated borderline elevated T3
Not diagnostic of hyperthyroidism
No need for thyroid medication unless clinical hyperthyroid symptoms present (e.g., tremors, weight loss, palpitations)
Could be a lab variation or transient fluctuation
🟢 When to Consider Treatment:
According to Harrison’s, start treatment only if:
TSH is suppressed (low)
T3/T4 are both elevated
Symptomatic hyperthyroidism present
✅ Suggested Actions:
Do not start thyroid tablets now
Repeat thyroid profile after 4–6 weeks with:
Free T3, Free T4, TSH
Consider thyroid antibody test (TPOAb, TRAb) if suspicion of autoimmune thyroid disease
Assess for clinical signs:
Weight loss
Heat intolerance
Anxiety, palpitations, tremors
📘 Reference:
Harrison’s Manual of Medicine: Mildly raised T3 with normal T4 and TSH does not warrant treatment unless clinical evidence of thyroid dysfunction is present.
Let me know if you’d like a monitoring chart or checklist of thyroid-related symptoms to observe over time.
