Bacteria are accumulated due to plaque and calculus (calculus or tartar is a form of hardened dental plaque. It is caused by precipitation of minerals from saliva and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) in plaque on the teeth.)
It is advised to undergo scaling every 6 months to keep your teeth clean and gums firm and healthy.
Brush your teeth twice daily using the correct brushing technique and use a floss. Gargle your mouth after every meal. Maintain proper tongue hygiene
This pain can be due to gums related problem as you don't have pain in any particular tooth. So try gargle with lukewarm salt water for not more than 3-5days. If problem persist then go to a dentist.
