I visited dentist for bad breath issue, He did the cleaning and suggested to cleanup every year once. After 3 months same issue started. Then i visited same doctor, He told the gap between teethes are more because of that food residues depositing on the gum causing the issue. Suggested for the Braces to remove the gap between the Braces.
I have doubt how the braces solve the bad breath issue, And Braces are painful and time taking treatment. Is this the right treatment or any other way my problem will be solved. I am attaching my dental x-ray for your reference.

Hi.I had check on your provided X-Ray.
My observations are that you have both gaps and bone loss between your teeths .I would suggest you to undergo gum treatment and then you can go for braces. Braces helps a lot and are not painful. They are a long process but the results are impressive and permanent.

bad breath could be because of deposits on your teeth or food lodged in your teeth. It could also be due to cold, acidity, not drinking enough water, not eating food, fasting for long intervals, etc. Visit a dentist get your scaling and polishing done. Brush twice daily, maintain proper brushing technique, floss regularly and rinse after every meal. Drink lots of water. for gap in between your teeth consult to an Orthodontist. Even if you have a gap you will not have bad breath if you maintain proper oral hygiene, therefore its not necessary your bad breath will go away with braces. So, maintain proper hygiene.
You need to get the gum treatment done first, after which the orthodontic treatment would close the gaps, thus preventing the food lodgement, which may lead to bad breath.Good luck.Regards,Dr Sumanmakam,Dental arts, jayanagar,Bangalore.
Hi.. based on your x ray. First undergo gum treatment for periodontist followed by braces. Yes its true that you need braces to solve your gum issue permanently. Braces are not painful, yes they take time but outcome is permanent and teeth life would increase.
Good Evening. Based on the your dental history and the OPG Xray you have attached. It looks like you may what we call localised aggressive periodontitis. Its basically a gum condition of the young which is characterised by bone loss around your teeth, particularly in the molar ( grinders) and incisor ( front teeth) region. It could also be periodontitis due to some other factors, but the symptoms you prescribe, the short time period in which it has progressed and the non response to conventional treatment in addition to bone defects in the incisor and molar regions point towards Localised Aggressive Periodontitis.
Before you jump to correcting your teeth with Orthodontic treatment ( braces). You first need to address the gum problems and thus my recommendation would be to immediately find a Periodontist ( gum specialist) in your area and go see him. He is the guy who will examine you, make more xrays if needed, confirm what actually is the problem and make a treatment plan for you. The gaps between the teeth can be sorted at a later stage. I would give immdeiate priority to stopping the prgression of the bone loss and gum disease happening around your teeth so that you don't end up loosing teeth. Further In my opinion, at the current level of bone levels in your front teeth, Braces is a bad idea for you as that'll only contribute to bone loss and further make maintaining oral hygiene difficult.
bad breath occurs for various reasons
Since u had deposits it would the primary cause hence your doctor has done scaling or cleaning
Since ur problem are recurring or not solved it needs to be probed detail
The position of ur teeth may favour deposits to form and cause gum problems
So if u eradicate teeth malalingment problems ur gum health can improve therefore permanent solution can be achieved
I feel what your dentist has told u is correct line of treatment
Me being a orthodontist cud advice u to go for braces coz u have gaps between your teeth and so ur food deposits can easily accumulate..
It's a myth that braces are painful.. actually braces are never painful... bad breath and your tooth alignment both are inter related...
Hope this was useful
Hi, on seeing the x-ray there is bone loss around most of the teeth. Its advisable to go for gum treatment to prevent further bone loss. Brushing your teeth twice daily and gargling using mouthwash can control the plaque accumulation and bad odour. Its advisable to consult periodontist for further management. Braces can only close the gap between the teeth.
After seeing your X-ray , I can say that
1) u have gaps between your teeth
2) u have bone loss between teeth
3) the condition of teeth looks good
Now the problem of bad breadth can be many as the above doctor suggested. And u have to rule out one by one . Take antacids if u have acidity problem for 15 days and then have a follow up. Rule out any cough or sinus issue.and cleaning u have done already so that's out of question.
Now Ortho treatment u can do for the gaps. But only ortho Won't solve this problem.
What u have to do is
1) improve ur brushing habits.. Use interdental brush to remove food particles which are stuck between teeth. And this has to be done after every meal.. This brush is a pocket size brush so u can easily carry in ur pocket wherever u go. I know it's difficult but for ur condition u have to do it regularly for few days.
2) use floss and mouthwash daily and brush twice daily.
3) rinse thoroughly after every meal
4) spend time while brushing don't hurry up
5) drink lots of water
6) do treatment for your acidity and cough problem if u have any.
Hope u will be fine soon.
Hi i am Dr Chaitra. Coming to tour problem. U have maintained good set of teeth. Bad breath could be becausebof various reasons.
1. Acidity. That is if you have too much of acid regurgitations.
2. Any medical condtions like diabetic or kidney disorder
3. Presence of calculus n decay
4. Excessive consumption of onion r garlic.
Cleaning is suggested once in 6 months. Inspite of cleaning if you experience bad breath then you will have to look into other conditions. You can use a mouthwash suggested by your dentist. If you do not look into other conditions which is causing bad breath then you will not be satisfied even after braces. Well braces can be done if you are wishing to close the gap between your teeth.
use a mouthwash regularly. i suggest chlohex plus. look for other possible condition.
u can go for braces if u r not happy with smile or if u want to close those gaps. if u do not want those metal to be seen on teeth then u can go for clear aligners which is absolutely painless n the braces r invisible.
