I am suffering with Grave hyperthyroid as n Atrial fibrillation for 21 months. Recently I am feeling a lot of pain in muscles and joints. So I got Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 tests. My Vitamin D is very low 5.5 ng/ml. I am taking Uprise D3 60-K for it. My Vitamin B12 is also low 152 pg/ml. Question 1; Can I take methycobal 500 mcg tablet to for vitamin b12? Question 2: Is there any harm if I take 1500 mcg? I am also taking blood thinners, bp and grave hyperthyroid tablets for 21 months. Kindly answer both questions.

deficiency of vitamin B12 can result from poor diets or among strict vegetarians who choose not to consume any animal products. A lack of stomach acid occurs in elderly patients and among people taking proton pump inhibitors is also contributing factor. 500 mcg of methylcibalamine is the standard dose for people with defeciency. However people with defecincy and  marked symptoms are given 1000 mcg daily till vit B12 becomes normal . As your vitamin d is very low at 5.5 ng/, I suggest you get injection form of vitamin d instead of 60000 iu oral form weekly.Take calcium supplement daily as calcium is required for the absorption of vitamin d in the intestine
