Hi,
I am on anxiety medication from last 1.2 years...these were my initial doses when I started the medication:
Morning: 0.25 clonazepam
Night: 0.5 clonazepam+dothipin 50mg.
The clonazepam dose was reduced over the last one year and I was successfully able to that even though I had withdrawal symptoms whenever the dose was reduced.
I had come down to 0.25 clonazepam only in the night with dothipin 50mg.
Now it's been a month, my doctor switched me from clonazepam 0.25 to Alprazolam 0.25.He said I have to take half of the alprazolam, and then have to make quarter and then need to stop at one point.Along with alprazolam I'm also taking dothipin 50mg.
Since the time I have switched from clonazepam to alprazolam life has become difficult. I am getting all the anxiety symptoms.I am not understanding if it's the withdrawal symptom. If it's withdrawal, is it because I stopped clonazepsm? Why do I feel withdrawal even though I'm taking equivalent medicine.? Please help.

Weaning off benzodiazepines (clonazepam) can be a trial and error process. Clonazepam is longer acting than alprazolam and that might be leading to the difficulty in adjusting to your current dosage. Take it slower and re-discuss the tapering schedule with your psychiatrist.
Withdrawing from benzodiazepines is what all psychiatrist s aim for on a longer run. While reducing or switching there are bound to be initial difficulties lasting few weeks, which you need to bear to get weaned off from them. Good luck
