My wife has swelling on the side of breast since yesterday night. It only pains when she presses it.

The swelling needs to be examined as to what is its nature and what is the cause. Mostly the swelling are benign, when it's paining it could be just skin involvement but you must consult a gynecologist for examination and advice.
